Ginuwine & Sole Host "Sweet Charity 16" Party for Daughter Cypress

Here's a cute way to have a fabulous Sweet 16.  Sole's fab daughter from a previous relationship, Cypress, celebrated her 16th birthday in D.C. last night.  And her step-dad Ginuwine--Elgin--and Sole were on hand to help her celebrate.

The folks over at The Fab Empire copped these pics from Ginuwine and Sole's daughter Cypress' b-day at Eden Lounge in downtown D.C.  Cast member of "DC Housewives" and tv personality Paul Wharton was there too.
Cypress opted to take donations, instead of birthday gifts, for her charity of choice--the Somaly Mam Foundation.  Its focus is to end modern day slavery all over the world.  And she raised over $2,000 for the cause.
Ginuwine sang "Happy Birthday" to Cypress a capella style of course.

Aww.

And I see these two are still the happy couple after 7 years. Happy b-day!

BET Co-Founder Shelia Johnson Trashes Oprah's OWN Network

Not everybody's feeling O's brand new cable network.  Sheila Johnson, the co-founder of BET newtork, slammed Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network for what she called its "lack of diversity."  Peep the shots she fired inside...

During an interview on NPR's "Tell Me More," BET co-founder and fellow billionaire Sheila Johnson slammed Ms. Winfrey when asked about the mogul's new OWN network.

“The only advice that I say, let’s open up your circle a little bit more. You know, we love the Dr. Phils. We love the Suze Ormans. Let’s open up. There are other people. And there’s also African-American experts out there that I think she should start bringing on her show that can reach even a wider audience.”

Sheila said she sees Oprah's new venture as a missed opportunity because of its lack of diversity.  While saying Oprah has the power to create opportunities for minorities, Sheila said she hopes one day this will become a reality.

“And I think she really should do that and not be afraid to do it. There’s really a lot of great experts out there that really know the businesses at hand. And I’d like to see her open up her circle to do that.”

OWN could use a little color; however, I don't think Oprah has ever used any of her platforms to only provide opportunities for minorities.  But Oprah has said herself this new venture is a learning process so maybe there's some changes in the works.  Or not.  Either way....it's Oprah's and she can do as she pleases.  Your thoughts?

Producer Mario Winans A Broke Deadbeat Dad?!

There is drama brewing with the Winans gospel clan...and it involves a wack baby daddy and witchcraft.  Deets inside...

Superstar producer Mario Winans is being accused of being a deadbeat by his baby momma Janel Bennett.  Mario, who is the nephew of "BeBe" Winans and the son of gospel superstar Vicki Winans, is said to be four months behind on child support payments, according to Janel.
Janel says Mario is supposed to pay $4,500 a month for their son Jordan, who he has not visited.  And despite producing Dirty Money's Last Train To Paris album, in addition to hits for Drake, Destiny's Child and Whitney Houston, Mario claims he is broke.  
The star producer, who has three other kids with his wife, Joy, has been fighting in court with Janel since 2007. But he recently told the NY Post that he would wire $14,000 to her over the weekend.

"I take pride in my children -- it is what it is -- I always make sure they are taken care of," he said.

But the family drama gets deeper when you ask mother Vicki Winans how she feels about Janel. In a 2007 email, Vicki said to her,

"Girl, you did not ask me when you took action and screwed Mario that day! You should have used a defense [a condom]!"

And in another e-mail, Vickie said,

"Nobody likes a stuck-on-themselves pretty white girl with pretty eyes that thinks the world owes them everything."

When asked about the comments by the NY Post, Vickie said,

"You didn't hear our phone conversations or the e-mails she sent us! She is evil.  I was singing a concert while they were having a baby. I have nothing to do with this . . . I want to meet my grandbaby, but I'm afraid of her. She's into all this witchcraft..."Mario is not a deadbeat dad. He doesn't have the money so I lent it to him to pay her. I am a good grandmother, and I love all of my grandchildren."

This sounds like a big family mess. But it's funny how Vicki went all biblical and accused the baby momma of being a witch.  Makes me wonder why Mario got involved with her in the first place.
