Star Wars x adidas Originals “Imperial Guards” Stan Smith 80s

Originally previewed back in December, the Star Wars x adidas Originals lineup for Spring/Summer 2011 begins to see a release at select retailers. Amongst the highlights of the line is this new take on the Stan Smith 80s, done up in mid top form with a clean cut base. Take on a mostly red colorway, the kicks find their inspiration from the Imperial Guard characters in the Star Wars franchise, most evidently seen on the tongue stamp and heel accenting. Vans Old Skool “Street Style”

Vans drop a classic colorway of the Old Skool inspired by Vans’ original skate “Street Style”. The sneaker features a black, green and white colorway. Smokey Robinson headlined PBS' "The Motown Sound: In Performance at the White House," last night with special guests Jamie Foxx and John Legend, who performed Motown hits.

President Obama welcomed a slew of stars to the stage like Natasha Bedingfield, Gloriana, Nick Jonas, Ledisi, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Seal and Jordin Sparks.

Oscar winning Jamie Foxx wowed the crowd.

And so did John Legend.

The event will air on PBS on March 1.
I can't wait to see this special.  This is a great lineup of talent.

Rihanna To Play Whitney Houston's Role In "The Bodyguard" Remake!?

Remember The Bodyguard?  The blockbuster film that turned Whitney Houston into a bankable actress and further made Kevin Costner a heartthrob?  Well...the movie is getting a makeover and rumor has it that Rihanna may be cast in the lead role.  Deets inside...

Warner Bros is gearing up to remake its 1992 hit The Bodyguard and it may star Rihanna in the title role.  The film will be scripted by Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer. 
The updated script will cast the bodyguard as

"..a former Iraq war veteran who gets the job protecting a big star as his first gig after leaving the Army. He discovers that the world of Twitter, Google Maps and TMZ has made access to celebrities easier than ever, making the job more difficult than ever." 

Other names thrown into the pot for the Whitney Houston role include Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.  And really....none of these suggestions excite me. 
I'm not too sure about Rihanna's acting skills and I definitely don't want her to touch ANYTHING Whitney recorded for The Bodyguard soundtrack. 
This could be a potential mess.

Angela Simmons Readies Her Own Clothing Line!

The YBF has exclusively learned that Angela Simmons is expanding her empire into some solo work.

Rev. Run's daughters, Vanessa and Angela Simmons, have been on the retail scene for years turning their Pastry company into more than just sneakers--now there are dressier shoes, clothes, and accessories.
But Angela is stepping out into her own solo venture to create her own clothing line, aptly named Angela Renee.  Her rep tells us the collection features Angela's ideas and designs, with the help of designer Juan Vargas (the designer of Angie's dress worn above to Thursday's Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon).
While the business savvy chick and her team are keeping quiet about the exact look and feel of the line, we were told she's been wearing plenty of her own designs as of late to test out response.  So all those paparazzi pics of Ms. Angie these days give you a sneak peek.

Foxy Brown To Release "Black Roses" Double Album + Waka Flocka Addresses Tour Bus Shooting + Remy Ma Stuck In Jail Till 2016

For those fans and critics who think Foxy Brown's only "records" involve prison stints - get prepared for a new double album from the hip-hop diva.
Get the deets on Foxy's latest project inside plus hear what Waka Flocka has to say about last week's tour bus shooting and what happens to Remy Ma now that she's lost her appeal.

Foxy Brown reports that she is in the studio recording what will be the first double-album released by a female hip-hop artist called Black Roses.

"I'm in the studio every night, slaving.  It's going to be really big. One side is going to be straight Hip Hop and hardcore records, and a couple big radio joints, and then the other side is Dancehall-Rock."

And in an interview with Billboard.com, Foxy says last week's story about her being intoxicated and getting kicked out of a fashion show after-party was pure fiction.  Foxy says she isn't even a drinker.
And if you want to know what she thinks about the Nicki Minaj vs. Lil Kim beef, she had this to say:

Nicki has always been cool with me. She and I have something online I did for her -- it was a video shoot with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, [when] she wasn't signed yet. And she was like, "Foxy is the first female artist who ever embraced me." She was classy; she was articulate. I'm so proud of her.

Of course, people everywhere clearly are saying, "She wants to be Foxy, she wants to be Kim." Everybody's going to say that. But do I think she's doing an incredible job at branding herself? Yes, I do. When you're an icon in the music business…like Mary J. Blige. Keyshia Cole came out after her, [but] you didn't hear Mary J. Blige starting a beef with her just because they compared [Keyshia to] her. Mary J. Blige stayed clean. She does what she does, and I do what I do.

And in other music news...

Waka Flocka is speaking out about the shooting that occurred outside his tour bus on February 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina.  

“I wasn’t scared. I felt like that wasn’t my time -- you know what I’m saying.  Stuff happens for a reason so God can let you know that’s not the way he wants you to go no more.”

We told you earlier that Waka said he was not involved in the shooting.  He added, "I was chilling. I wasn’t a part of that.”

So far, six men have been apprehended by the local police department for what may have been a failed robbery attempt.  Waka’s publicist, Kali Bowyer, released a statement saying the rapper and his team were “pleased” with the arrests.

“We are pleased with the attentiveness by the Charlotte Police Department in capturing these individuals in such a timely manner.  It is such a shame that one would risk the lives of innocent women and children in hopes of stealing one’s jewelry,” said Kali.

Waka is now working on the Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, and Family project, the follow-up to his debut album Flockaveli, which is expected out later this year. But in stores now, he has a 24-track mixtape titled Salute Me Or Shoot Me 3 to tide over fans.

Remy Ma will likely remain locked up until 2016 after New York's highest court upheld her eight-year prison term for shooting a friend during a dispute in 2008.
The New York Court of Appeals' 5-2 decision rejected Remy's claim that her lawyer should have been allowed to argue that the shooting was an accident resulting from a struggle for the gun.
Remy has already served three years at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women.  Damn homie.
