Nelly Reveals Details About Ashanti In VH1's "Behind The Music"

Hip-Hop all-star Nelly will be featured in an episode of VH1's Emmy-nominated series "Behind The Music. And he's finally speaking about his relationship with Ashanti.  Deets inside...

An upcoming episode of Behind The Music will focus on the Saint Louis, Missouri rapper's  "...upbringing, his rise to fame, the trials and tribulations of running his various businesses, his acting career, the decline of record sales and more."
On the show, Nelly opens up for the first time about his relationship with Ashanti and the death of his sister Jackie, who passed away from Leukemia after a nationwide donor drive.
To advertise the show, VH1 released this statement:
"Growing up in St. Louis, MO, Nelly spent most of his childhood bouncing from home to home, sleeping on couches and changing schools with alarming regularity. The lack of parental supervision quickly led him to a life of crime. Years later, he joined a rap group called the St. Lunatics and finally found the family he'd been lacking. However, his loyalty to that family was tested when record labels came calling, saying, "We want you-not them." With his group's blessing, Nelly signed to Universal Records and released Country Grammar. The album sold nearly 10 million copies and forever changed the face of hip-hop. Since then, life has hardly been easy for Nelly. From a decline in album sales and controversial music videos to his best friend's incarceration and his sister's tragic death from leukemia, Nelly has battled plenty of demons."
And with his sixth studio album, 5.0, in stores now, Nelly really opens up about his journey from St. Louis to rap superstardom on the episode slated to premiere Monday, March 7th at 10:00 PM EST.

Ne-Yo Blasts "Singers" Who Rely On Autotune

Say what you want about Ne-Yo, but dude is always a proponent of showcasing real talent.  And always keeps it real about folks who just don't have the voice or the star power to make it.

So, of course, he's giving his insight on why folks need to stop using autotune as wings and push their songs like their real artists.  Read on for his take...
Ne-Yo spoke out recently saying auto tuned should be used for what is there for--only to support the vocals of actual singers from time to time who don't want to compeltely wear out their voices because of constant performing and recording.
You don't want to blow your throat out trying to do the same note a thousand times, so you sing it a few good times and you let the Auto-Tune catch whatever notes fall out," Ne-Yo explained. "It was not meant to be wings. You were not supposed to strap it on your back and jump out the building, that is not what Auto-Tune was meant to be."
The singer/songwriter, whose production team Stargate, scored one of 2010's biggest hits with Wiz Khalifa's 'Black and Yellow,' continued to call Auto-Tune's saturated use in hip-hop "wack," saying artists who employ the effect as a signature sound like "robots."
"If you using it for what it's meant for, cool, fine and good," Ne-Yo continued. "I feel like the best singers do... Not 'I can't sing at all so let's just turn Auto-tune all the way up so that I sound like Willie the robot,' that's wack! That's terrible, it takes all the character outta your voice and you become a robot. You hear it on the radio and you go 'who is that?' and you have no idea because everybody sounds the same. If you're a singer, sing!"
Couldn't have said it better myself.  This "I want to become a star and tour and sell my record after I go speak into a mic and autotune it" ish is just becoming ridiculous.  It's always been a pet peeve of mine when random folks trying to be an artist purposely dumb down the music industry for consumers by pushing 100% autotuned songs.  And they're actually trying to become a star from it.  It's literally someone speaking into a mic and a machine turning it into a song.  Nothing special about the voice.  I'm not impressed and it's sad that this is becoming the standard of music now.
Glad somebody spoke out advocating raising our standards.  And I guess it's safe to say he won't be trading his beliefs and talents just for some airtime on the E! channel anytime soon, unlike other producers....

Chris Brown Cops A $1.75 Mill Condo...With A "Beverly Hills Housewife"'s Husband's Help

Chris Brown just gave himself a pre-album treat.  As he readies his fourth album, F.A.M.E., dropping March 22nd, he copped some pretty luxe new million dollar living quarters.

Details and pics of Breezy's new penthouse pad, plus which Beverly Hills House-husband represented him in the deal, when you read on...
For $1.75 mill, Breezy now has a minimalistic, yet chic and understated luxe, new penthouse in West Hollywood.  The condo spans the entire penthouse level and is 3,000 sqft with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.
Features include floor-to-ceiling windows that show off a balcony overlooking the L.A. skyline, top of the line stainless steel appliances, private elevator access, and sleek bamboo wood floors.
His agent was none other than Mauricio Umansky of Hilton & Hyland, Beverly Hills.  You know...the ridiculously hot husband of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" fave Kyle Richards (Paris and Nicki Hilton's aunt).

The bachelor pad has an open floor plan, high ceiling and a bar.  Perfect for that "No Bullsh*t" type company....
